Pal was a Rough Collie performer and the first in a line of such dogs to portray the fictional female collie Lassie in film and television.
In the Lassie-films different dogs were used. Pal appeared in several movies from 1943 to 1951, followed by Boy and Howard. The Lassie-character was female, but mostly played by male dogs.
